Antioch - 2006-2008

The Antioch corner is a quiet place today, but not so much as  when the cemetery went untended and the church site grew wild. In June 2002, the Antioch Historic Cemetery Association was organized to raise money to maintain the cemetery. The fund grows slowly, but in the meantime kind neighbors tend both the cemetery and the beautiful corner where the church once stood.

Antioch Cemetery received a Historic Texas Cemetery designation in 2004, and the medallion is on display.

Several new grave markers have been added to the cemetery. A new fence has been built on the front and side. In addition to the maintenance fund, the cemetery association began in 2006 collecting funds for an Official Texas Historical Marker for the community of Antioch. That Marker was dedicated on March 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the marker site and the Tolar Church of Christ.

Now a history of the community from settlement is available for purchase. This is a limited edition. Get your while they are available. Buy Book
